Hyderabad: India has changed significantly and Indian entrepreneur is next big player in the global markets, says Kiran C Patel, noted philanthropist, serial entrepreneur, hotelier and cardiologist while addressing the gathering at TiE Global Summit 2022 here on Tuesday.
Speaking about the future of startups in India, Patel said: "Indian blood is such that we believe in entrepreneurship. We always struggle to survive and thrive in challenging times. Investments of less than $10 million are purposeless in the US because the level of funding starts at a range of $50-100 million. So, investors like me in the US explore the opportunities in this part of the world."
He adds, "There are two advantages – familiarity and opportunities – make it a very fertile land for investments. At present, I have invested in 5-7 startups in India. And I'm happy that they are all well on path to become unicorns. Every sector is fertile in India to take the next step. Be it healthcare, technology, EV or pharma."
"Among all the industries, the Indian market share is very low. This is an opportunity for the country. The lessons learnt from Ukraine/ China stories, all these things are making India a right place to invest. A good chunk of Indians in the 25-35 age range, who are educated, make a fantastic skilled force. I think there is a dual opportunity in the country globally to provide a labour force that is skilled," Patel said.
